Latin America and the Caribbean is the most unequal region in the world. This inequality has been even more clearly evident in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, which involved diverse challenges for different population groups. For instance, the virtualization of education affected different social sectors in very dissimilar ways, based on the inequalities in access to technology. The new care requirements that social isolation entailed brought to light and opened new debates on gender inequalities. In addition, young people have faced new challenges and obstacles in their labor insertion as a result of the Pandemic. The levels of activity and occupation register historical minimums, especially in young women from groups with lower income and educational resources. In this framework, we want to address the following question: what impacts has the pandemic had on territorial, ethnic, class and gender inequalities among young people in the region?

This session welcomes presentations discussing qualitative and quantitative research results on Latin American youth during the pandemic and post-pandemic, on the effects of the COVID 19 crisis on youth inequalities from an intersectional perspective, and on policies developed by National States to intervene on these inequalities.
