Some communities in the world are facing identity crises due to authoritarianism, forced evictions, migration due to climate change and wars, problems in getting adequate food, livelihood and growing religious intolerance etc. They are at the margins at the new places as well as at their native places due to majoritarianism and neglect due to biased attitude. They also face multiple deprivations. The marginal communities face irrevocable discrimination and exclusion and identity crises which deepen with authoritarianism. The marginalisation of the marginalised is becoming new normal due to failure of welfare policies and corruption in many countries. The survival of poor against odds is becoming a challenging task. The people belonging to certain communities are excluded from meaningful participation in the socio- economic, cultural and political affairs. In addition to these disturbing trends, the session explores the process of marginalization, inequality and segregation of various types of minorities (based on religion, caste and income etc.). The contributors are also expected to examine whether and to what extent the prevailing conditions of human settlements are conducive to attain Inclusiveness, safety, resilience and sustainability for all.
