RC28 Social Stratification (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

Studies in this session examine social stratification and inequality in a specific context across a wide range of societies. They highlight specific patterns and trends of stratification and inequality in specific societies . The session highlights richness of stratification and inequality research done by RC28 members across a variety of contexts, expanding the current scope of stratification and inequality research. Specific patterns and trends of stratification and inequality revealed by detailed analysis in a society often challenge the existing assumptions of stratification and inequality research. At the same time, those individual-society studies suggest a possibility and benefit of future collaborations of possible comparisons of stratification and inequality across diverse contexts.
