Session Type: Oral

We invite submissions on teaching strategies for making sociology locally and globally relevant for students. For example, Covid-19, racial justice, and the climate crisis are global social problems with diverse local responses and experiences that require global collaboration. Moreover, technology makes it possible to work with instructors and students beyond one’s borders. Possible session topics include:

  • International teaching and learning collaborations
  • Globally responsive teaching strategies
  • Teaching sociology under the backdrop of global social problems
  • Trauma-informed teaching
  • Managing the increased emotional labor associated with teaching at this moment in history
  • Challenges to teaching and learning when both instructors and students are experiencing displacement and other risks
