Session Type: Oral

The objective of this joint session is to trace the relationship between changing family structure and social stratification by examining inequalities based on ethnicity, class, race, social status, and different types of discrimination and violence. Family structure is changing constantly which implies transformations of parent–child relationships, intergenerational relations, work-family interfaces, and education mobilities, among others.

How families are changing in the framework of social stratification? What are the effects of these transformations using transversal o longitudinal perspectives? Additionally, after the COVID-19 families suffered changes in their wellbeing economic and mental health status. For example, some changes include divorces, domestic violence, and depressions, among others. Several studies are needed to promote public policies to address these issues.

We would like to invite papers based on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed method approaches that make contribution on changing family structure and social stratification. We seek to contribute on development on family structure and social stratification theory in this post-pandemic time.
