Session Type: Oral

Studies of body/embodiment/corporeality have been central to various fields in the social sciences and humanities. In this session we seek the embedded theoretical and methodological commitments the varying approaches. Discussions about methodological experiences in studies and research with bodies. Presentation of reflections on aspects and theoretical-methodological approaches, favoring the exchange of knowledge around research methods and procedures in the area of sociology and anthropology of the body. Ultimately, these studies must present an epistemological concern.

This is a session commemorating the retirement of one of the most important researchers/authors in the sociology of the body, David Le Breton. Professor at the University of Strasbourg, Le Breton is responsible for the resumption of body studies, based on Marcel Mauss and George Simmel. His production comprises studies on the paradigm of corporeality, based on the dialogue with emotions and sensations in different perspectives, always based on phenomenology and symbolic interactionism. With great pride, RC 54 celebrates one of the most important authors of our time.
