TG04 Sociology of Risk and Uncertainty (host committee)
Language: English
Session Type: Oral
This session invites papers interested in theoretical questions of the social understanding and management of risk and uncertainty. For a long time conceptual work focused on cultural approach (Douglas), risk society theory (Beck), governmentality/biopolitics (Foucault), edgework (Lyng) and systems theory (Luhmann). Such theories have always been connected to other approaches and tried to make new connections. This session is interested to bring together papers that make such connections to, for example, theory of practice/practice theory, material semiotics and assemblage theory, one-world/one-health, and Feminism/intersectionality.
