Artistic and cultural forms, as imaginative forms of collective social practices, weave the meaning of a territory, a context, and a people, but also of the generations who traverse these same cultures. These forms of meaning dialogue with the social imagery, mediate marginalization, transform barriers into bridges, and are the indispensable tools for any social coexistence and its continuous rethinking in everyday life. This session wishes to focus on the social potential of theaters as institutions, as groups, or as ways of performing social resistance, in order to contribute through both disciplinary reflections and empirical research, to inquire experiences of performance and the transformative potential unleashed by theatres. And how it constitute fruitful moments for the cultural growth of territories, for the mobilization of citizenship, for the elaboration of the specific problems of the contexts with which they interact, according to their demographic, cultural and social composition, and the marginality or cultural and linguistic centrality that characterizes them.
