Session Type: Oral

Universities impose multiple demands – in the areas of research, teaching and increasingly public engagement - on ECRs (Early Career Researchers) who may often face the additional pressure of precarity in work, while building their career. This panel will include 3 speakers who share their insights and learnings from their own early career experiences in the areas of research, publications and/ or public engagement and will address questions many ECRs are grappling with: How to navigate research, teaching, and publishing as an ECR? How have you dealt with drawbacks and closed doors? How can you build and maintain respectful relationships with research participants in the areas of racism, nationalism, indigeneity or ethnicity, when your position is fixed and/or short-term? How can you work towards impactful research as an early career researcher?
