The relationship between sport and physical activity, health and wellbeing is complex. Sport and physical activity are associated with many direct and indirect health benefits to individuals, communities, and societies. Yet, they are also associated with powerful ideological forces that contribute to inequality, marginalised identities, and exploitation by state and corporate interests. This session explores the complexities and contradictions of these entanglements, including our conceptual understanding of health and wellbeing.
