TG03 Human Rights and Global Justice (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

Despite significant advances in disability rights frameworks, including the rights-based approach promoted by international conventions and national legislation, many individuals with disabilities continue to encounter exclusion in education, employment, healthcare, digital environments, and public life.

This session invites sociological perspectives on the changing realities of disability, inclusion, and social justice in turbulent times. It seeks to explore how social, political, economic, and environmental disruptions shape the lives of persons with disabilities and influence their access to rights, resources, and opportunities. Particular attention will be given to intersectional experiences shaped by gender, age, class, ethnicity, migration status, and geographical location.

Contributions may address disability rights and citizenship, inclusive education, employment and livelihoods, accessibility and assistive technologies, healthcare inequalities, digital inclusion, community-based rehabilitation, disaster and crisis responses, and the implementation of inclusive public policies. The session especially welcomes perspectives from the Global South and comparative studies that highlight innovative practices and emerging challenges.
