Language: English
Session Type: Oral
The rapid diffusion of artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems, and data-driven infrastructures is reshaping social life in profound ways. Beyond questions of technical efficiency, these developments raise broader sociological issues concerning social order, power, governance, inequality, labor, knowledge, and everyday life. This session invites contributions that rethink “intelligent society” as a sociotechnical formation rather than a purely technological condition. It asks how intelligent systems reorganize institutions, mediate social relations, transform practices of coordination and control, and redefine the boundaries between human judgment, automated decision-making, and collective life.
We welcome theoretical, empirical, and comparative contributions addressing the social consequences of AI and related technologies across diverse contexts. Possible topics include social theory of the intelligent society, algorithmic governance, platformization, intelligent infrastructures, automation and work, digital inequality, human-machine interaction, data politics, and the changing production of knowledge and expertise. By bringing these perspectives together, the session aims to develop a sociological understanding of intelligent society that connects technological change with broader transformations in social order and social life.
