In the context of digital societal transformation, changes in work and employment are increasingly intertwined with changes in cultural interaction, jointly shaping the formation of social boundaries and the ways in which social connections are produced. On the one hand, widening differences in technological skills, the reorganization of organizational relations, and the expansion of platform-based work are reshaping how people enter employment, sustain their careers, and achieve stability. On the other hand, digital media, urban cultural spaces, and cross-regional cultural flows enable individuals to form new forms of connection and identification through online interaction, cultural consumption, and everyday communication. Together, these processes constitute key mechanisms through which social solidarity is being reshaped in digital society. Accordingly, this theme provides an open analytical framework that brings together research on digital labour, social inequality, cultural circulation, urban life, and social empathy, and offers a comprehensive perspective for understanding how social solidarity is formed and transformed in digital society.
