TG12 Social Love and Solidarity (host committee)
Language: English
Session Type: Oral
This session is based on the understanding that the anthropocentric model of colonial modernity, by separating humanity and nature, reason and sensibility, society and the cosmos, has produced forms of development driven by the unlimited exploitation of territories, bodies and ecosystems. In this context, the notion of ‘love of nature’ is presented not as a romantic or moralising idea, but as a sociological, ethical and political category capable of contributing to the reconstruction of the bonds between humans, non-human living beings, minerals, territories and technologies. This session aims to reflect on emerging possibilities for moving beyond the Anthropocene paradigm towards complex cosmocentric horizons grounded in the interdependence of life, ecological reciprocity and the valorisation of the planetary commons.
The aim is to understand how different intellectual traditions and territorial experiences can contribute from love understanding to imagining new forms of coexistence between nature, culture and technology in a world marked by the climate polycrisis, global inequalities and the changes
Among the main suggested thematic areas, the following stand out:
- A critique of the Anthropocene and colonial modernity;
- The Cosmocene, complexity, convivialism and the interdependence of life;
- Love, affect and political ecology;
- Indigenous cosmologies and pluriversal perspectives;
- Ecological democracy, climate justice and new planetary commons.
