Language: English
Session Type: Oral
The session engages with theory and praxis of workers’ education in times of persistent turbulence and polycrisis. The aim is to identify challenges to workers’ education, and search for pathways for renewal of radical currents. Participants are invited to explore examples, models, approaches and practices of worker-focused educational initiatives, current and past, with a view to supporting collective thinking about possibilities for deepening radical workers' education in these times. While open to all facets of workers’ education, we are particularly interested in exploring initiatives situated within struggles against precarious work and committed to regarding workers as subjects of knowledge production. We welcome contributions confronting education and organizing for emancipatory change whether inside trade unions, workers’ centres and collectives, alternative workers’ justice organizations, labour schools, or more conventional academic settings. In coming together, the objective is to consider ways to develop and extend radical workers’ education and to build linkages amongst interested scholars.
