RC51 Sociocybernetics (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

This session will discuss sociocybernetic perspectives on media and information in this widely algorithmically mediated society. The scope of this session ranges from empirical studies to conceptual reconsideration. Problems such as misinformation, disinformation, infodemic, algorithmically filtered online experience, bots and AI agents’ posting on social media, human-AI interaction, and platform governance are of particular interest for this session. We welcome studies addressing not only the social and political, but also the cultural implications of recent algorithmic developments. Topics discussed in this session will surely shed light on the opacity and uncertainty of today’s public sphere.
