Music for Turbulent Times: Echoes of Resistance and Resilience In eras defined by political upheaval, economic instability, and social crisis, music transcends mere entertainment to become a vital site of cultural negotiation. This presentation examines how sound and song function as both a mirror to and a weapon against societal discord. Drawing from the sociology of art, we will explore how musicians and communities weaponize melody and lyrics to foster solidarity, contest dominant narratives, and process collective trauma. Ultimately, this session highlights how music not only narrates history but actively shapes the social structures of turbulent times.
