Session Type: Oral

The ongoing American-Israeli military interventions and geopolitical projects across West Asia have generated profound social, political, and humanitarian consequences. At the same time, they have sparked diverse forms of popular resistance within the region and across the globe. From anti-war mobilizations and solidarity campaigns to grassroots humanitarian initiatives, labor actions, digital activism, and transnational social movements, opposition to war has emerged as a significant force shaping contemporary political life.

This session invites papers that examine the forms, dynamics, and implications of popular resistance to the American-Israeli wars on West Asia. We welcome contributions that explore collective action in relation to Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Iran, and other sites affected by military intervention, occupation and forced displacement. Particular attention will be given to analyses of how resistance movements articulate claims for justice, self-determination, peace, decolonization, and all forms of resistance to settler colonialism.

We particularly encourage theoretical, empirical, historical, and comparative contributions addressing topics such as [but not limited to] anti-war activism, global solidarity networks, student and labor mobilizations, digital resistance, state repression, and the role of civil society organizations.
