RC22 Sociology of Religion (host committee)

Language: English, French and Spanish

Session Type: Oral

Given the current culture wars and the changing world political landscape, the issue of the importance of the Secular State (l'État laïque) to help resolve major social debates becomes questionable. Politics and religion separation, or of Church and State, even distinction between private and public are now erased in front of new social challenges. Facing this dilemmas, is the Secular State still relevant? This session would welcome the perspective from different countries or regions concerning this issue.
