Law, Migration and Human Mobility In an Era of Global Turbulence (WG Law and Migration)

Abstract Submissions Closed

RC12 Sociology of Law (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

This session explores the complex relationship between legal frameworks, migration processes, and social transformations in a world marked by conflict, climate change, economic instability, and geopolitical tensions. As migration increasingly shapes societies across the globe, legal systems face new challenges in balancing national sovereignty, human rights, security concerns, and humanitarian obligations. The session invites critical sociological and interdisciplinary perspectives on how laws regulate, facilitate, or constrain human mobility and how migrants negotiate legal, social, and political realities.

(This session is sponsored by RCSL WG Law and Migration.)
