WG04 Sociology of Risk and Uncertainty (host committee)
Language: English
Session Type: Oral
This session explores perceptions of nuclear risk and the discourses through which such risks are constructed, communicated, and contested. Bringing together sociological perspectives on risk, media, and public engagement, the session examines how nuclear threats—ranging from accidents and environmental contamination to geopolitical tensions—are understood across different social and cultural contexts. We welcome empirical and theoretical contributions that investigate the social dynamics shaping nuclear risk perception, governance, and public debate.
