TG03 Human Rights and Global Justice (host committee)
Language: English
Session Type: Oral
India and Europe possess distinct historical trajectories that have significantly influenced the development of their socio-political institutions. India, characterized by its rich cultural diversity and ancient civilizational heritage, continues to face challenges relating to caste hierarchies, gender inequality, religious pluralism, and poverty. In contrast, Europe, shaped by its colonial legacy and continuing processes of regional integration, encounters challenges associated with increasing authoritarian tendencies, migration, the rise of orthodox nationalism, and regional disparities.
This session will undertake a comparative analysis of governance structures, legal systems, and political processes across India, Europe, and other global contexts. Furthermore, the discussion will examine legal frameworks, international conventions, and institutional mechanisms for the protection and promotion of human rights, including monitoring bodies and redressal systems.
The session will also analyze the relationship between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and global justice by exploring opportunities for international cooperation and collaborative approaches among countries in addressing contemporary global challenges. Additionally, the discussion will provide a broader perspective by emphasizing the interconnected nature of social, environmental, and economic factors in shaping the well-being of individuals and communities across India, Europe, and beyond.
