Language: English and Spanish

Session Type: Oral

There is a debate about the future impact of technology on work and whether it will displace, merge, improve, or create jobs. Some authors argue that people will face technological unemployment in the present turbulent societies. Other authors contend that the main challenge is not technology itself but the ecological crisis and resource management. In this regard, it is crucial to consider how societies distribute the benefits of technological innovations, with particular attention to those who might be affected by labor transformations. These changes must be addressed through equitable social policies, education, and adaptive AI training, among other measures, within an ethical framework. Theoretical and empirical studies that integrate results and potential proposals from both the Global South and the Global North will be considered in this session.
