Language: English

Session Type: Oral

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly transforming education and labour markets worldwide. AI technologies affect how skills are acquired, assessed, and certified, while simultaneously reshaping occupational structures, skill demands, recruitment practices, and career trajectories. However, the extent and consequences of these developments depend on the institutional setup of education and training systems, labour market structures, regulatory frameworks, and technology policies. As a result, the impact of AI is likely to vary considerably across countries and regions.

This session aims to bring together comparative research on the implications of AI for education and labour market systems. It invites contributions examining how AI affects skill formation, educational participation and attainment, school-to-work transitions, occupational structures, labour market matching, inequality, and related macro-level indicators across different institutional contexts. We welcome both large-scale cross-national studies and in-depth comparative analyses of a smaller number of countries; contributions considering countries of the Global South are particularly encouraged.
