Session Type: Oral

The last decades have been marked by significant transformations in the architecture and mechanisms of imperialism, including shifting global hegemonies, intensified militarization, expanding digital surveillance, ecological crises, and the use of human bodies as sites of experimentation for corporate wealth accumulation, among other developments. These transformations have profoundly affected peoples and communities around the world. Contemporary struggles increasingly reveal the interconnected nature of colonial, capitalist, and imperial systems.

At the same time, transnational solidarity movements opposing imperial violence, genocide, and war emerged, reconfigured, and, in many cases, revived. These movements have gained momentum, and forged new alliances and new forms of political engagement. Studying these transnational solidarity movements has acquired renewed urgency, as they offer important insights into how structures of domination can be challenged, how steadfastness and collective resistance can be nurtured, and how alternative liberatory futures can be imagined.

This panel invites papers that examine how transnational solidarity movements create new spaces for collective action, knowledge production, and political imagination. We welcome contributions that explore how contemporary solidarities against imperialism are built across borders, how resistance movements learn from one another, and how alternative futures are envisioned in the face of ongoing colonial and imperial violence. While Palestine remains central to our thinking, and the Palestinian struggle has generated new analytical frameworks and political imaginaries, we welcome papers that draw connections among struggles across different regions of the world.
