RC16 Sociological Theory (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

Theories of subjectivation examine how subjects are formed through historically specific practices and relations of power shaped by inequality, violence, and struggles over distribution. This session asks whether and how contemporary global capitalism gives rise to comparable forms of governing subjects and self-governance across diverse world regions. We invite contributions that analyze the formation, transformation, and contestation of subjectivities under divergent yet interconnected historical conditions.
