RC25 Language and Society (host committee)

Language: English, French and Spanish

Session Type: Oral

In our current polycrisis, the narratives we employ can either heal or deepen our disconnection from ourselves, the communities we are nested in and the places in which we are rooted.

Participants in this session will explore how we might (re)imagine and (re)possess language to cultivate shared spaces for thought and action. By shifting from mechanistic jargon toward multisensory regenerative narratives grounded in lived experience, we transform language into a force for healing, connection, and regeneration supporting the flourishing of our inner, social, and place-grounded potential.

The session supports the congress's goal of "engaging with this complexity" and "moving away from reductionist narratives" by critically analyzing and creatively reimagining how we are weaving our shared stories. We invite proposals including holistic "imagining" experience through diverse forms of expression—including poetry, new languages, metaphors, movement, gesture, sound, and rhythm expanding our consciousness.

This session serves as a shared exploration of the potential of regenerative language to intentionally disrupt current realities and allow new futures to emerge. It is an invitation to move beyond the verbal into a multisensory exploration of the language of the mind, body, and heart - the whole experience. We will critically examine how this integrated language shapes our relationships with the self, the social, and the place, ultimately asking: how can the language of regeneration help us reshape our collective futures?
