Disasters and Substandard Housing
Disasters and Substandard Housing
Abstract Submissions Closed
RC43 Housing and Built Environment (host committee)

Language: English and French
Session Type: Oral
This session examines the issue of substandard housing associated with disasters. That said, how can support mechanisms be geared towards housing that is more located in sought-after areas rather than towards those who are excluded from them and who
are, more specifically, the focus of policies on rehousing or temporary accommodation?
By examining this paradox alongside its public and private stakeholders, this session aims to deepen the sociological analysis of housing-related disasters. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics of designation, labelling and advocacy.
