This study is the result of observations made for the development of a scientific report. The research was conducted as a case study about the process of insertion of a baby in the collective context of early childhood education, after the formation of the group of children. It means that it focuses primarily on observing, recording (field notes and photographs) and analyzing the way the just arrived baby at the institution and the other children act and react in relation to the new situation. The empirical observations have been made in a public kindergarten in the town of Florianópolis-BR during a period of stay of 40 hours. There has been used the contributions of the Sociology of Childhood (2002 SARMENTO, Corsaro, 2009) as methodological tool to better understand young children from their own points of view. In the course of the analysis has been considered the teaching process to the child that is inserted and the relationship with its family. But the main discovery made is the social learning experimented horizontally among the infants of the group.
