Language: English

This joint session tackles several issues about farm workers such as:

  • the evolution of farm work in globalized economies: migrations, casualisation of work, evolution of paternalism, labour conflicts and mobilisations;
  • the roles of markets and certification in influencing firm strategies and policies;
  • the tensions between different levels of regulation of capitalism: national regulation, political economies of countries that host the firms, and the international levels of value chains and standards.
