Oral Presentation
This research project attempts to address the question of leisure experience among middle-aged women in Delhi NCR. On the basis of relevant secondary literature we have arrived at a realisation that leisure is an important personal and political reality in everyone’s lives. But the question of whether and to what extent is it accessible to women occupies a central position in this enquiry. It is argued that leisure can take many different forms based on the cultural capital, social class, and household composition of individual women. Therefore, analysing the various aspects of women’s lives provides a broader basis for understanding their leisure. Additionally, this understanding may provide insights into the interrelationships of all areas of women’s lives. To that end by using a qualitative research method of in-depth interview we aim to address the subjective and performative dimensions of leisure experience amidst the quantity and quality of leisure time and its concomitance with freedom of choice.
