Globalization, New Communication Technologies and Socio-Cultural Changes: With Special Reference to Dehradun City
This research paper examines the complex relationships between globalization, new communication technologies and socio-cultural changes in the city of Dehradun, India. As globalization is transforming urban landscapes across the world.
Dehradun presents a unique example of a rapidly developing city in a traditionally conservative region. Through a mixed methods approach including surveys, interviews and observational studies, this research explored how global influences and technological advancements are changing the social fabric and cultural norms of Dehradun. This research study examines the perceptions of Dehradun residents. In particular, the study reveals significant changes in communication patterns, social interactions and cultural practices among the younger generation.
The findings highlight both the opportunities and challenges these changes present and provide insights into the complex dynamics of modernization in emerging urban centers. This research contributes to a broader understanding of the impact of globalization on local communities and provides valuable data for policymakers and urban planners in navigating the socio-cultural landscape of developing cities.
