Oral Presentation
This article analyzes the relationship between the Passport Bros movement and Sex Tourism from the perspective of journalistic articles published in Brazilian media in 2023, observing the growth of movements promoting Sex Tourism and misogynistic practices and discourses. As methodological procedures, the descriptive research was based on a bibliographic and documentary review, as well as on content and discourse analysis of 12 journalistic articles published within the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. From the analyses, we identified that the stereotype of Brazil and the image of Brazilian women associated with Sex Tourism are historically rooted in our country, reinforced to this day by movements like Passport Bros, which highlight and emphasize a legacy related to prostitution and sexual exploitation. Finally, we found that the media present a predominantly negative discourse towards these movements, and that the cities most affected by Sex Tourism are located in northeastern Brazil.
