Water scarcity is one of the key issues facing local communities in the 21st century, where this
crisis is not merely an environmental or technical issue but lies at the heart of social, economic,
and political relationships.
In the case of the Ziaida COMMUNITY in the Ben Slimane province, the water scarcity crisis
reflects the complex nature of local social relations and highlights the consequences of poor
water resource management. The water resources face challenges that are difficult to overcome
quickly, posing a threat to the region.

The conflict is not solely over water as a material commodity but over rights to access these
resources, reflecting the deep social divide between different groups. Water-related disputes in
this municipality intersect with issues such as land ownership and usage rights, making the
conflict more complex and intertwined.
Furthermore, the crisis in ZIADA COMMUNITY is exacerbated by the ineffective management of water
resources by local institutions. social systems theory,
water scarcity not only escalates conflict but also transforms the social structure as a whole.
Local institutions have become incapable of addressing the new challenges imposed by this
crisis, eroding trust between social groups, elected officials, and local authorities.

The issue of water scarcity is one of the major challenges facing the region, contributing to
numerous socio-economic transformations, as water is central to economic and social processes.
Agricultural activity, which primarily depends on water, has been significantly affected, in addition to the emergence of tensions and social conflicts over the exploitation and management
of this resource.
