Taiwan's Higher Educational Reform in a Global Context: The Paradigmatic Shift from Modern to Postmodern

Through theoretical approach, this paper aims at analyzing Taiwan’s higher educational reform since 1990’ under the influence of globalization. Firstly, this paper lays bare the definitions and critiques of globalization while dealing with the related issues. Then, it describes the transformation of the conceptual development from the modern humanistic idea of higher education to the postmodern non-centre idea of higher education in a global context. Next, it mentioned issues and problems of Taiwan’s higher educational reform since 1990’ presented a fundamental paradigmatic shift from modern to postmodern in a global context. Finally, it provides some suggestions about higher educational reform for Taiwan in a global context.
