Despite major advances in HIV prevention and treatment, there are about 37 million infected individuals

world-wide. Many of these persons with HIV struggle with the profound mental stress associated with

the stigma and threat of violence associated with the illness. There is  an increasing amount of data suggesting

that gener based violence(GBV) and the mental stress and trauma associated with it ,is both a cause and an

outcome of HIV infection. This session invites submissions which focus on programmatic responses to HIV

related stigma and violence and the mental stress and trauma associated with them. Submissions on responses

to gender based violence(GBV) and HIV are especially welcome as are abstracts on HIV programmatic responses

in developing areas of the world.
