Formal and Informal Disaster/Hazards Education

Panel members will briefly describe, innovative approaches to disaster/hazards education including bridge-building to the humanities and physical sciences, popular culture, experiential learning and other instructional and curricular innovations. Selected presentations will reflect both school-based formal and community-based informal hazards education targeted at children, youth and vulnerable populations, critical to building resilient nations. Following the panel presentations, session attendees will be encouraged to provide reactions and supplemental experiences designed to improve the quality of disaster/hazards education.
