The strong relation between education and employment opportunities has been historically sustained by the great inequality in the distribution of schooling in the Brazilian context. However, recent studies indicate a decrease in the weight of origin in the class destinations, as well as a small decrease in the income inequality that is attributed to the decrease in return on education in relation to the expansion of access and extension of schooling, and to the reduction in educational inequality over the last few decades (Carvalhães, 2010). In this paper our aim is to analyze the relation between education and occupation in the context of extreme inequality of educational opportunities in Brazil during the last decade. The data used was from the Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios [National Household Sample Survey]. In order to deal briefly with the impact of education on unemployment and occupational status, we decided to use a Logistic Regression Model to understand the condition of occupation in the employment market, and to use Linear Regression to analyze the impact of education on occupational status, which was performed to estimate the variable Socio-Economic Index (ISEI). Our main controlled variables are: education (higher; middle level; fundamental; no education), gender, color, urban.
