Education Profession and Religion in the Era of Globalization:
A Case Study of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya in India
Indian society has a long history. In ancient period, there is evidence of some institutions of higher learning and specialized professions based on the practice of specialized knowledge. Apart from learning of common sense knowledge through participation in everyday life and heredity based transmission of skills from one generation to the other, there are numerous references of an ancient institution of education, namely ashram- a specific place where education was imparted by a person called Rishi (sage, one who is practicing the lifeof simplicity and renunciation). But now a days we are not providing such education to our students and present education system are fail to complete the objectives of holistic education. So many problems are emerging to the individual and society like tension, war and many more. To overcome these problems all World Gayatri Pariwar established Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidylaya, Haridwar (India). The University combines the percept of worldly education (Shiksha) and spiritual education (Deeksha) to develop truly enlightened students. These students would be all rounded and holistically developed human beings to achieve the highest levels in all fields and channelize all their efforts towards the goal of a divine value based society with a simple and spiritual lifestyle.
