Oral Presentation
This article analyses the labour market outcomes of university graduates, focusing on wages five years after graduation. It considers a number of factors, including field of study, type of university, technological skills, languages, social background, gender, age and autonomous community. The results are presented on graduate salaries in the post-crisis period, using microdata from the 2019 Labour Market Insertion Survey of University Graduates. The findings indicate gender inequality (lower wages for women with equal training) and the potential of university education to mitigate socio-economic differences of origin. This supports the importance of a quality higher education system that enables the children of the working classes to access and complete university studies. A free education system would increase access and completion of studies for vulnerable groups.
