Oral Presentation
Risk communication is a crucial tool for fostering public cooperation during crisis events. It involves sharing information that influences the public's understanding and awareness of risks and their approach to risk management. Various factors, such as warning information, disabilities, knowledge, socio-demographics, and past experiences, affect how people understand, assess, and respond to risks. People with multiple challenges who live at the margins of society often get let out of the risk communication equation, increasing their risk levels. Advancements in digitized information and AI should harnessed to enhance the risk communication to address these gaps in disaster management. This project aims to enhance our understanding of how AI can improve risk communication messaging during high-consequence events to address the needs of multiple communities, especially the most at-risk segments of the population.
