Thinking about Femicidal Violence. Approach to a Propposals of Michel Wieviorka and Rita Segato

The debate and problematization about the conceptual fundamentals and interpretative frameworks to analyze and intervene in gender violence against women foster interest in several knowledge fields. This fields ascribe as its causes both, structural conditions and individual attributes, also multiple variables or risk factors that pursue. The most accepted thesis comes from to social sciences area with emphasis on gender perspective. However, the theoretical proposals belong this approach have been criticized mostly for the analytic displacement of the masculine issue, in reference to the ways that the patriarchal system impacts to men and differentiated them to produce hierarchy between masculinities, but in front to their vulnerabilities and conflicts derives from redefinition of women as result of their exigence of equitable distribution of power in social relations. Whit the aim of think about gender violence from social and individual configuration of perpetrator, this paper is an attempt to develop a relational perspective about a femicidal violence. For this draw on Michel Wieviorka’s invitation to reflect the violence putting subject in the center of analysis, and on patriarchal impress, structural and historical of “mandate of masculinity” of Rita Segato.
