Wednesday, 9 July 2025: 13:00-14:45
Location: FSE007 (Faculty of Education Sciences (FSE))
RC55 Social Indicators (host committee)

Language: English and Spanish

The session aims to analyze recent labor market trends in both the Global North and South, focusing on the effects of socio-economic changes. Key topics include shifts in employment structures affecting skill levels, emerging labor trends, and their impact on work conditions, job distribution, and opportunities for professional growth. Increased flexibility, alongside informal and irregular work, has led to rising precarious employment, job insecurity, and social vulnerability, posing challenges for policy and regulation. Additionally, automation and AI present significant risks for labor, particularly in the context of ecological transition. Traditional social indicators must be updated to capture the complexities of today's society, as current tools often miss these nuances. Accurate data is crucial for effective policy and decision-making, requiring rigorous development of indicators that reflect contemporary social realities.
