In contemporary South Asia, the forms of politics are as diverse as the South Asian society itself. It is often construed that the diverse South Asia social existence is a fertile ground for various forms of social, cultural and political inequalities. The dynamic nature of South Asian society however has always provided opportunities for people to demand their constitutional rights in anyway. Several people take a legal course, others entrust large social movements to the same. Currently, South-Asian nations are amid many such events of claim of individual and group rights. This panel focuses on the studies of various social groups according to their current position in the South Asia Democratic politics. We call upon the researchers of social movements, socioeconomic positions of identities and commodities, and belonging to present their insights with us through this panel on the ways the citizens are creating their being in the varied democracies of South Asia. As we understand the overwhelming range of the current political climate of South Asia, it becomes pertinent to evaluate the diversity of unequal existence in the region. Some people have committed to the idea of change while others still struggle to make sense of their social and cultural positions. Our panel will provide a platform to understand social inequality and the politics around it.
