Francophone Sociologies

Saturday, 21 July 2018: 10:30-12:20
Location: 603 (MTCC SOUTH BUILDING)
RC08 History of Sociology (host committee)

Language: English and French

This session will be the opportunity to present and compare fancophone sociology as has evolved and is practiced in diverse countries and contexts. Among the points it would be interesting to consider are the question of the origins: how and under what conditions did sociology emerge in the country discussed? What theoretical currents and authors have been adopted and how have they been received and integrated? Have authors or currents been refused or forgotten? Why? What questions have been posed in the countries' sociology and what answers suggested? What have been the objects/phenomena studied? How has this sociology been institutionalized and transmitted? Communications which address any of the preoccupations of the theme of the congress: Power, Violence and Justice: Reflections, Responses and Responsibilities, will be particularly welcome. Propositions may be submitted in both French and English
