Advances in technoscience have brought new challenges to the field of social science studies, as the scientific and technological knowledge of frontier areas accelerates their entry into the world of life, through technological and organizational innovations. Different dimensions of social life have been affected by these techno-scientific advances, new cultural values emerge as a result of the transformations they provoke in social life and the innumerable possibilities that are presented to society to solve several problems that afflict people in different parts of the world, including pollution, energy, communication, food and new materials for civil construction and the war industry. These conquests bring about a new field of interest and power dispute.

The session focuses on, but is not limited to, an examination of these issues in relation to nanotechnology and transgenic foods.
