A relevant issue about the ethics of social and educational research refers to a set of principles and international regulations that aim to prevent damage and negative consequences to the individuals, groups and communities that participate as volunteers in research processes. Ethical responsibility in research is essential and it is more so when it refers to cross-cultural contexts, because in many cases, the researchers deal with people that have been exploited, that are marginalized, displaced, in risk of exclusion or vulnerable. Responsible social and educational research is necessary to focus on central problems and search for interdisciplinary and collaborative solutions. Cases of misconduct in research have helped to shape ethical guidelines and policies along with ethical codes and are useful for teaching professional and scientific ethics. It is also important to search for good practices in research.
